It's worth spending a few hours exploring the heart of the village. The shopping is excellent - whether you're after designer clothes, furniture, household goods or gourmet foods, you're bound to find something that takes your fancy.

For art lovers, visit one of the galleries situated in the village. Or grab an art trail and explore the studios of the artists who make Havelock North their home.

A drive to the top of Te Mata Peak is a 'must do' for any visitor. The views are truly breathtaking and Mount Ruapehu can be seen on a clear day. While at the top of the peak, make the most of some of the activities on offer. These include walking, mountain-biking and even paragliding from the summit.

If dining and nightlife is your thing, you'll find it here as well. The village plays host to a number of fine restaurants, pubs and bars which will keep you entertained until the wee small hours.
